Obviously Northern California is different than the Northeast. I get that. But I need to talk about the seasons here for a minute. Or more accurately, the season. One continuous Fall, with splashes of Summer, Spring, and Winter all at once.
I know I have only been here for 6 months, so I don't really know how a full year pans out, but in this time the weather has been consistently inconsistent. A single week can witness a whiplash of temperatures. High then low, sunny then grey, winter jacket and hat then what the fuck, t-shirts and sandals. I don't like having to carry an entire wardrobe of clothing with me at all times so I can constantly peel off or add on layers at random throughout the day.
But that's just me.
This phenomenon can be easily demonstrated with the trees here.
All of these photos were taken this week. (with my iphone)
Spring is in bloom! It smells delicious.
Just kidding. It's totally fall. Look at that lovely fall foliage! *
Actually, no, it's the dead of winter.
But wait, it's balmy enough for palm trees! **
And let's not forget about the very popular, What The Fuck Kind of Mangled Tree is this? Seriously, they are all over the place. ***
Okay, I'm done ranting about the weather. And I'm not saying I have a problem with any of this. It's cool to walk down the street and smell Spring, Summer, and Fall all once. It prevents you from getting that, "I'm totally sick of this season," feeling that people back home suffer from.
But I don't think I am alone in this. You would be confused too.
For context, in case you are interested:
